I remember the days when I used to be completely trapped by anxiety. This cycle of fear, anxiety, and confusion made me a psychotic maniac as I never got my peace of mind. At that time all I could think of was the Lord God. I printed a prayer for anxiety and made it a point to read every day.
There was a reason why I didn’t print all of the prayers for anxiety at once. I noticed that whenever I am determined to do something productive and collect all the resources at a go, I would lose interest.
This time I was even afraid to even check for too many resources. So, when I stumbled to one single prayer, I tried sticking to it.
At, first with my hear and mind racing it was very difficult to even read it in my mind. I started to read it out loud. Yes, it made no sense to me but I had faith. I had faith in the Almighty and knew these prayers for anxiety would help me gain back my peace of mind.
I had this holy belief that everyone was equal in the eyes of God. If I am suffering from this, then it is happening for a reason. A reason which would help me understand the reason to live life. A reason to survive and strive. I knew that nobody could steal the love God has for me. It is pure and indestructible. All I needed is to show utmost faith in Him.
Preliminary Prayer For Anxiety
I know the feeling when we have the gripping anxiety. I know it’s hard to stop worrying. Sometimes, it’s difficult to put faith in God. When this happens just remember the following verse
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
I feel this is the preliminary prayer for anxiety. Whenever you are in a bad situation, just remember everything happens for a reason. The Lord has plans to give you hope and a future.
Cast your cares on the Lord
and he will sustain you;
he will never let
the righteous be shaken.
Anxiety and fear bring down the overall functioning of our bodies. Yes, we were not meant to bear such kind of burden. We were meant to live stress-free by learning to roll our cares over on the One who cares for us.
Instead of focusing on your fears, try to divert your mind. I know it’s difficult to stop thinking over something.
Imbibe the following words that were said by the Lord God to his disciples:
“I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your span of life?”
This will not only help to calm your mind but will help to reduce anxiety to a great extent.
Maintain A Journal To Pen Down Your Thoughts
Yes, I believe it is important to maintain a journal just to write your own thoughts. Write your heart out what’s really worrying you. When you have done so just hand these problems to your Lord God. He assures us that He is always with us. All you need to do is have the faith that God is present and He is aware of your problems.
Invite the Holy Spirit to calm you down. Pray that God has His focus on you. Ask Him to help you grow into a better human. Write down the promises from the passages in Mark, Isaiah, and John which are mentioned below:
He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!”Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
~Mark 4:39-40So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.~ Isaiah 41:10I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.
Prayer For Anxiety and Fear
I remember having a few dreams which left me completely frightened and devastated. These “disturbing” dreams often left me dizzy and weak. Later I realized these weren’t dreams but episodes of sleep paralysis and panic attacks. These episodes stopped me from getting a good night’s sleep.
If you have suffered the same fate I know what it feels like. I know the feeling.
As it is mentioned that God did not create us to be struck with fear. He created us for a purpose, a goal that we have to achieve- not to be devastated by fear. I know it’s difficult to focus on God when something is bad in our mind, right?
We need to be the people who are going to cry out for the Lord God.
“Heavenly Father, my heart feels anything but peaceful in this moment. I feel afraid. But you promise in John 14 that you have given us peace in the form of the Holy Spirit. I know I can trust your promises, and I know you are not a God who lies (Numbers 23:19). So, please provide that peace to me now. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
“Heavenly Father, in Joshua 1 you tell your people to ‘be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.’ Lord, I want to be strong. Please supply me with strength and power, wisdom and knowledge. Make me obedient to your ways, able to fight fear, and victorious over anxiety. I trust that you are with me wherever I go, Father. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
The Right Way to Pray
Before praying, we must ensure to clear out our mind. Whatever may be the issue, we need to settle down with our mind first.
Yes, it is necessary we have a softcopy of the prayer for anxiety. I do not recommend using our phones while we pray.
Think about your problems. Just introspect your feelings.
Make sure you find a good and a peaceful environment, preferably a natural environment, away from any human civilization. This way, you don’t get interfered with any external disturbances.
It completely depends on you if you want to pray alone or pray with others, but I feel praying alone makes us feel more connected and closer to the Almighty.
Terrorism, disasters, crime and violence is increasing and we get to hear the horrors of people every day. In today’s world, it’s hard not to be afraid. It is fear which overwhelms us. When this fear becomes a force, it drags us down to hell, falling into the pits of anxiety and depression. So, it is important we sing or recite a prayer for anxiety every day.
Replace the fears with the positive one. I know it’s very easy to give suggestions like this but dealing with it is the real deal. All you need to do it is pray to God. The righteous shall make you relief from pain and anxiety.
When we have no one to confide into, we usually approach God begging for mercy. This is most common among all the humans. So, it’s better if we put our faith in the Lord God and pray from the beginning.
Debbie McDaniel rightfully said, “There’s nothing magical about words and verses, but there is power through them because they’re God’s words. His words are ‘life’ words, soothing to our soul, calming to our spirits, giving power to our days.”
